Specialized Ministries
Overview
Special workshops and other formation opportunities are offered in the Diocese of Raleigh to assist in building the specific competencies individuals need to serve successfully in particular areas of ministry. Ongoing formation or support opportunities are offered in such areas as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) or the RCIA Adapted for Children, particular liturgical ministries, bereavement ministry, and other specialized ministries. Contact the Office for Lay Ministry for more information.
Lay ministers are invited to build on their first level ministry training and to develop appropriate skills for specialized certification in liturgical ministry (PDF) or in catechetical ministry (Master Catechist).
The Office for Lay Ministry also sponsors the Prison Ministry Network (PDF) for those who serve local jails and in approximately 50 state and federal correctional institutions the Diocese. The Office for Lay Ministry and specially trained members of the Network join together to offer basic prison ministry orientation at parishes wishing to begin prison ministry outreach.
